Oakhurst

Some may think of Oakhurst as merely a particularly charming section of the City of Decatur, but this little swath of historic Atlanta is a neighborhood in its own right, packed with transit and 20th-century charm. Here, you’ll find street after street of brick Craftsman bungalows framed by big front porches. Perhaps that’s why the neighborhood’s biggest claim to fame is its annual Oakhurst Porchfest, a grassroots celebration where homes host bands on their porches, with plenty of food trucks, beer and spring blooms to go around.

Just like its name suggests, Oakhurst is truly nestled among the trees. Diverse, eclectic and artistic, Oakhurst Village is a cultural hub of eateries, galleries and shops that radiate from Harmony Park. Stop by Sceptre Brewing Arts, The Universal Joint, Mojo Pizza, Kavarna Coffee, Steinbeck’s and the historic Old Scottish Rite Hospital (now home to a solarium, a community center and a lawn that hosts jazz nights).

But that’s not all. This neighborhood near the East Lake Marta Station is also home to McKoy Park and Skatepark, Oakhurst Park, the Imperial and Revolution Donuts. Will you be one of the 5,000 residents (and counting) who call Oakhurst home? Stroll beneath its namesake oak canopy and you just may be inspired to put down roots of your own.
